Nuclear

For 2009, nuclear power will be a new focus area at the Middle East Electricity exhibition. The show will provide international companies operating in the sector with the opportunity to showcase their products and services to key decision makers from across the Middle East and beyond.

The United Arab Emirates looks set to win the race to be the first Arab state to set up a civilian nuclear power programme. The UAE government has produced detailed plans for acquiring skills and technology and for dealing with regulatory problems.

The UAE has partnered with the US, France and the UK to help achieve their aim of having several reactors online by 2020 producing one third of the county's electricity.

The emirates are not alone in planning to use nuclear power as, since 2006, 15 other countries in the Middle East have announced plans to start or revive nuclear power plans.

Exhibition space at the last edition of Middle East Electricity sold out well in advance of the show. Click here to secure your presence today.
